PAL’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held in the Crest Theatre Green Room, in Toronto’s Pal Place, on 15 June. An uplifting affair it proved to be, not only as a result of planned improvements for PAL National but with enthusiastically positive news provided by Chapter Reports and encouraging comments from those members in attendance.
President Marston commented on the fact that we finally achieved effective “charitable status” at the beginning of 2009 and, while it is early to expect marked increase in financial assistance as a result, we expect that our ability to now offer charitable receipts for all donations (except for our $20 membership fee) will lead to improvement in that area in the future.
Meanwhile, Treasurer, Peggy Mahon, demonstrated once again how her astute handling of our small budget ensured that PAL Canada® can still show a healthy financial picture.
While apologizing for some confusion regarding the lack of proper notice given for nominations for positions on the Board of Directors, the President informed the meeting that we have new blood joining the Board, and some others who are stepping down. Of the latter, two stalwarts leaving the Board are Hazel Walker and Andrew Scorer. Both have contributed considerably to the work of PAL, demonstrating a strong commitment to its ideals, and serving the members in various capacities. They will be missed.
