PAL Calgary applied for funds through the Calgary Arts Development Association’s Arts Spaces Investment Process - a new process for groups wishing to secure city land or funding for capital projects that create new arts spaces. We have secured letters of support from MLAs, city councilors, and arts leaders of Calgary. We made our presentation to the assessment committee of the Arts Space Investment Process for the Calgary Arts Development Authority, backed by a dynamic powerpoint display designed by DCM entertainment of Vancouver. In attendance on the committee was architect Jeremy Sturgess, nephew of the recently deceased Barry Morse one of the pioneers of PAL in Canada. Mr Sturgess spoke to our delegates and noted that PAL was close to his uncle’s heart, and consequently, he in turn was fond of the initiative. The Assessment Committee has identified our project as an opportunity in their phase one process. When we have drawings and planning documents we will be moved on to the next phase of the assessment process
