September 2008: Meeting with CMHC Affordable Housing representative.  This was a very informative meeting; they will prove to be helpful as we move forward.  The CMHC Affordable Housing website is:

http://www.cmhc-schl.gc.ca/en/inpr/afhoce/index.cfm

On the website you can find the name and contact information for your local Affordable Housing representative, download numerous reports as well as the application form for Seed Funding.

October 2008: we have partnered with The Communitas Group to help us navigate our way through these important first steps. The Communitas Group has worked with community groups since 1972 specializing in non-profit housing.  Initially they will assist with the development of our Needs Assessment Survey and Business Plan.   If successful with the CMHC application, this would cover the costs of the Communitas Group.

December 2008: submitted application for Seed Funding through CMHC.

January 2008: the application to CMHC has been successful.  $20,000 ($10,000 grant, $10,000 interest-free loan)
