PAL Vancouver

palbuildingIn early 2000, discussions began with members of the Vancouver performing community with a view to determining the need and interest for a similar facility on the west coast.  That initiative blossomed under the energetic leadership of Joy Coghill and Jane Heyman. Soon the hugh performing arts community in the Vancouver region began the construction of another facility.

On May 29, 2006, the first residents of PAL Vancouver began moving into their new homes situated in the new neighbourhood of Coal Harbour, close to the downtown core, shopping, public transit and beautiful Stanley Park.  The building has 111 suites: 99 one-bedroom rental suites (of which 80% are heavily subsidized – with the remainder at the low-end of market price) and 12 two-bedroom life lease suites.  The eighth floor of the building is crowned by a roof-top garden, green room/lobby and 100-seat theatre that will soon be home to public performances by residents and others from Vancouver’s professional performing arts community.
