MOVING CONNECTIONS WORKSHOP
PAL Canada has partnered with Kaeja d’Dance to bring to our members another virtual program, “Moving Connections”. The program provides benefits for the mind and body, gained from a non-strenuous movement practice that warms the body and activates the mind.
Participants will be led through the workshops by a team of professional dancers. Committed to making our programming accessible during the pandemic, we are pleased to continue to offer all "Moving Connections" sessions free of charge.
Established in 1990, Kaeja creates award-winning contemporary dance performances for stage, film & communities that have toured the world for 30 years. They design large & small-scale events that integrate community & professional dance artists, site-specific work & audience inclusive arts practices. Their outreach programs reach 4,000 participants/learners per year.
Moving Connections was conceived, directed and developed in 2018 by Karen Kaeja. The project is an umbrella for her three decades of research of intergenerational collaborative dance-making using personal stories. Workshops include a warm-up, collaborative choreography, and gentle guided movement explorations. The Moving Connections Heart Dance was created by Karen in collaboration with a community of older adults just before the pandemic and was shared with community participants throughout the pandemic. This practice evokes a distilled reflection of hope, and embracing meaningful connections made with people in our lives.
